O INGLÊS NOSSO DE CADA DIA  - 17/11/2008

BRIC – Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Personally I do not like the idea of living in a country that belongs to the so called BRIC. Nevertheless, I keep saying to myself that the state of RS does not fit in such group. I get a chill down my spine when I remember the unsuccessful (thank God and our Military) attempts of many communist terrorists during the 60’s and 70’s of the twentieth century to transform our country in a branch of the deceased Soviet empire.

Russia underwent a period of malicious, baleful, impish, malefic, maleficent, malign, malignant, pernicious, poisonous, virulent communist dictatorship led by the second and third most efficient butchers of the twentieth century of the Christian era (the first place belongs to another communist beast known as Mao Ze Dong) namely  VLADIMIR  ILYICH ULYANOV and IOSIF VISSARIONOVICH DZHUGASHVILI. Fortunately we were saved from such horrendous experience. Russia had to go through this nightmare for more than 70 years. Unfortunately, the people of Cuba are still ruled by a decadent communist dictator that has not realized yet the suffering he has been imposing on Cubans for almost 50 years, and things can always get worse, no matter how bad they are now. Let us take a peek at the text below:

Medvedev Speech Sparks Rumor of Putin’s Return. By ELLEN BARRY

MOSCOW — President Dmitri A. Medvedev’s state of the nation address went on for 85 minutes and contained more than 8,000 words, but the section that prompted the most chatter on Thursday was a single sentence, the one that proposed lengthening the Russian president’s term to six years from four.

The proposal in the televised speech on Wednesday sounded odd, coming from a man just six months into his first term, and he offered little insight into his motive. It has led to rumors that Mr. Medvedev was laying the groundwork for his mentor, Vladimir V. Putin, the former two-term president who is now prime minister, to return as president, perhaps as early as next year.

Thursday’s issue of Vedomosti, a respected financial daily newspaper, fleshed out this theory in all its conspiratorial glory. Citing an unnamed source close to the presidential administration, Vedomosti reported that Mr. Putin intentionally placed Mr. Medvedev in the presidency “to carry out the necessary constitutional changes and unpopular reforms for Putin to then return to the Kremlin for longer”. The newspaper theorized that Mr. Medvedev would resign and call for a presidential election in 2009.

Unfortunately, if you take in consideration the news above, it is not a comfortable situation to belong to group that includes the former Soviet Union. I also do not feel comfortable to live in a country is part of a group that includes India, probably the second greatest polluter in the world (the first one, undoubtedly, is China, another member of the so called BRIC). Everybody believes that developed countries are the greatest polluters of spaceship Earth. This is not true. The greatest polluters are China and India. Can you imagine the amount of methane gas produced by the greatest (and useless) herd of cattle in the world? Do you know the numbers related to useless cattle in India? I feel deeply sorry to inform you about that. The numbers are completely unreasonable: India has about 30% of spaceship Earth (or Gaya as John Lovelock denominates our planet) herd. As the total amount of bovines living on spaceship Earth reaches one billion and 300 million animals, 30% means 390 million animals. Besides that, it is not necessary to mention the absurd number of inhabitants of that country. You, as a reader of JC, know very well how much one human being contributes to the greenhouse effect. Now imagine the contribution of China, with an official number of inhabitants of more than 1,300,000,000,000 (by coincidence the number of bovines in the world is the same as the official number of people in China). It is very well known that the official numbers from China are not trustable. It is very likely that the true number of inhabitants of China exceeds 1,700,000,000 (one billion and seven hundred million people). If you add up the three above mentioned numbers, namely, the number of useless bovines in India plus the number of inhabitants of India (more than one billion people) plus 1.300.000.000 inhabitants of China, the result comes close to 3 billion living beings.  According to the Theory of Gaya, the capacity of Spaceship Earth is around two billion passengers. Beyond such number the capacity of our planet of self renovating becomes extremely endangered. Now take in consideration the fact that we are rapidly increasing the world population to seven billion persons. Don’t you think that it is about time to start thinking seriously about reducing our world’s population? As a rightist, first of all I am concerned about the safety of the ship we are travelling on. Leftists think the opposite way: first the citizen and then the ship. They forget that without a ship in good condition, we will eventually all drown (to drown = afogar-se). We must find out the role that we play in this deadly game, and make sure that we play it right.

I wish an excellent and productive week.
Dixi.
